How to use the pizza delivery tip calculator

The Emily Post Institute currently lists $2 to $5 for pizza delivery depending on the size and difficulty of the order, alongside a 10% to 15% guideline for delivery more generally. That is why this page is designed to show percentage amounts while also making room for a fee line and your own judgment.
Delivery fee is not automatically the driver tip
A fee charged by a restaurant or platform may cover delivery operations, insurance, technology, or other business costs. It should not be assumed to be the same as the voluntary amount you intend for the driver unless the receipt or provider explicitly says so.
Keep the fee visible, calculate the voluntary tip separately, and review the final total before paying.
Percentage versus flat-dollar tip
A percentage is useful when order sizes vary. A flat dollar amount can be easier for smaller pizza orders. The calculator above gives you the percentage result, but you can still choose a different amount after seeing the math.
For example, 15% of a $30 order is $4.50, while 15% of a $70 order is $10.50. The service circumstances may matter as much as the order value.
Factors you may want to consider
Weather, stairs, parking difficulty, distance, order size, multiple bags, and unusually complicated drop-off instructions can all affect how demanding a delivery is. These factors do not create a mandatory formula; they are reasons you might choose to adjust the voluntary amount.
